Die politischen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen und Veränderungen der letzten 10 Jahre bis heute in Europa regten zu einer grenzüberschreitenden kollaborativen Erkundung an - The European Record.

The European Record - ist das Pilotprojekt für eine künstlerische Aktionsplattform ausgehend von Mittel-europa. Auf der Suche nach einer neuen sozialen Zukunft und zeitgemäßen Wegen des Zusammenlebens beginnt dieses Projekt am 26. Februar 2011 mit einer dreiwöchigen Workshop-, Veranstaltungs- und Inter- aktionsreihe.

Drei permanent vom 26. Februar bis 13. März zu besuchende und besichtigende Projekte erwarten den Besucher im Freien Museum Berlin.

Das erstmals auf der Biennale in Poznan 2010 erprobte Kunstprojekt HomeNet-TV der Künstlerin Ola Lewin, wird erweitert um per Skype zugeschaltete  neue internationale Kooperationspartner aus Warschau, Istanbul und Barcelona zu Kochabenden, Konzerten und Theaterinszenierungen einladen. Die Installation kann täglich besucht werden und jeder Besucher wird dabei automatisch zum aktiven Teilnehmer eines offenen sozialen Netzwerks, das mit neuen Kommunikationsformaten experimentiert.

Ein weitere Projekt dieser Reihe ist die Ausstellung von KH Jeron mit dem Titel Sounding. Sie umfasst vier neuere Arbeiten des Künstlers, bei denen der Ton, als Musik, Sprache und Klang im Vordergrund steht. Fresh Music For Rotten Vegtables, In C, Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee und Die unschuldige Sirene.

Fresh Music For Rotten Vegtables umfasst Workshops und eine partizipative Installation. Hier geht es um Wert. Genauer um den Wert von Abfall, wie z.B. überreifes oder verdorbenes Gemüse. In C ist die Aufführ- ung der gleichnamigen Komposition von Terry Riley. Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee ist ein Beuys Remake, eine Kombination der Arbeiten Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee und Auskehren. Die unschuldige Sirene ist eine Reaktion auf den Umstand, dass auf Grund des strengen Home Security Levels, die elektronischen Arbeiten von KH Jeron nicht mehr ohne Weiteres in die USA verschickt werden können. Alle gezeigten Arbeiten beschäf- tigen sich mit der Frage nach der Interpretation von Erfahrenem. Jede Einzelne versucht ihr Thema in einem neuen Licht und unter einem anderen Blickwinkel zu verhandeln.

Das dritte Projekt ist eine Touristeninformationsstelle der Stadt Slubfurt, der ersten Stadt, die je zur Hälfte in Polen und Deutschland liegt. Sie wurde 1999 gegründet und setzt sich zusammen aus den beiden Stadtteilen Slub und Furt, die rechts und links der Oder liegen. In Slubfurt herrscht ein besonderes Mikroklima im Dazwischen der Kulturen. Denn hier sprechen die Menschen Polnisch, Deutsch, Englisch und natürlich Slubfurtisch, was diesen Ort zu einem attraktiven Zentrum für Solarwirtschaft, Gartenskulpturen und Touristen aus aller Welt macht.

Am 13. März wird im Freien Museum Berlin ein Empfang des Berliner Botschafter der Stadt Slubfurt Dr. Michael Haerdter stattfinden und im Anschluss daran eine öffnetliche Stadtparlamentssitzung.

Während der gesamten Projektlaufzeit werden verschiedenste Veranstaltungen im Freien Museum Berlin stattfinden. Täglich stehen den Besuchern eine bisher noch beschränkte, sich im Laufe der Zeit erweit- ernde Auswahl an Filmen und Künstlervideos zur Verfügung, u.a. Marx-Eisenstein- Das Kapital - Nachrichten aus der ideologischen Antike von Alexander Kluge, Players von Pilvi Takala, Any Other Business von Nicoline van Harskamp und Red Crystal Palace von Fereshteh Toosi.

In den kommenden Monaten werden weitere zum Projekt gehörende Aktionen stattfinden. Dazu gehören die Errichtung eines 12 Meter hohen Hühnerstalls The Tower of Babel und die Installation The Wall. An einem zentralen Berliner Platz werden Hühner verschiedensten nationalen Ursprungs friedlich zusammen leben. Dieses Kunstprojekt Cosmopolitain Chicken Project des belgischen Künstlers Koen Vanmechelen wurde erstmal auf der 3. Biennale in Moskau gezeigt. Die drei Meter lange und zwei Meter hohe Mauer des ungarischen Künstler Gyula Fodor besteht aus durchsichtigem Beton und versucht die Befindlichkeiten im heutigen Europa einzufangen. Der politische und humanitäre Skandal von Tausenden "Drittstaatsange-hörigen", die beim Versuch, materielle und immaterielle Mauern zu überwinden und in den Schengenraum zu gelangen, umkommen, ist bekannt.

The European Record ist eine künstlerische Gesellschaftsanalyse und Selbstbesinnung, die nach neuen richtungsweisenden Ideen sucht. Die künstlerischen Arbeiten identifizieren die Begriffe nach denen unsere Verhältnisse heute eingerichtet sind und überprüfen, ob diese den sozialen Organismus fördern. Durch die partizipatorischen Projekte wird die Wahrnehmung und sorgfältige Betrachtung eigener Bedürfnisse angeregt und die sich regenden Entwicklungsströme einer neuen Zeit aufgegriffen.

Wir werden dieses Projekt fortführen, bis es gelingt das Angeregte in der Zukunft auch kulturell, politisch und organisatorisch zu verdichten.

The political and social developements and changes in the last 10 years until today, motivated to a cross-border collaborative exploration - The European Record.

The European Record - is the pilot project for an artistic Platform for Action starting in Central Europe. This search for a new social future and contemporary ways of living together starts on February 26th with three weeks of workshops, events, exhibition and activities.

From 26th February until 13th March the visitor can permanently take part and view the following projects at Freies Museum Berlin.

HomeNet-TV; a art project by Ola Lewin, which participated at the Biennale in Poznan in 2010. It is a multi media room installation with 3 peer video conferences via skype. This time new project partners from Barcelona, Istanbul and Warsaw will take part in this open social network for experiments of new formats of communication. The visitor are invited throughout opening hours to take part in cooking events, concerts, theatre and other actions.

Sounding; an exhibition of four new works by KH Jeron, which are based on sound as music, language and noise. Fresh Music for Rotten Vegetables; In C; Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee and Die unschuldige Sirene (The innocent horn).

Fresh Music for Rotten Vegetables - is a participatory installation and workshop. It discusses the notion of value. More precisely the value of rubbish, e.g. overripe or rotten vegetables. In C - is a performance of the same titled compositon by Terry Riley. Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee - is a remake and combination of the works by Beuys Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee and Auskehren (to sweep). Die unschuldige Sirene (The innocent horn) - is a reaction of the artist towards the fact, that due to the high Homeland Security Levels it is today nearly impossible for him to ship his electronic artworks to the US. All works on display dealing with the question of interpretation of experience. Each work of art observes its subject from new direction and point of view.

Touristeninfomation Point of Slubfurt - is presenting Slubfurt, the first city that is located half in Poland and half in Germany. It was founded in 1999 and consists of the two districts Slub and Furt, which are located on the right and left banks of the river Oder. Slubfurt is located in a special microzone "between" cultures.
Here the people speak Polish, German, English and Slubfurtish, which makes this place an attractive centre for the solar energy industry, garden sculpture and tourists from all over the world.

On 13th March the Berlin Embassador of Slubfurt Dr. Michael Heardter will hold a reception at Freies Museum Berlin. Directly after the city parlament of Slubfurt will have its next public meeting at the museum.

During the whole period of exhibition various events are taking place at Freies Museum Berlin. Daily videoscreenings also in English of the following artist films during the opening hours: Marx-Eisenstein- Das Kapital - News from the Ideological Antique by Alexander Kluge, Players by Pilvi Takala, Any Other Business by Nicoline van Harskamp and Red Crystal Palace by Fereshteh Toosi.

Throughout the following months further actions and activities will take place. Which are part of this project. We are proud to announce already two installations on public spaces in Berlin in 2011; the Tower of Babel and The Wall. The Tower of Babel as part of Koen Vanmechelens Cosmopolitain Chicken Project, first time presented at 3rd Moscow Biennial, is a 39 feet tall chicken house. Chickens from various origians and nations concrete captures the mental state in the Europe of today. Everyone knows about the political and human scandal of thousands of "non-EU inhabitans", who are dying by trying to overcome material and immaterial walls by entering into the Schengen area.

The European Record gathers artistic analysis of society and is a kind of self-reflection, which seeks for ideas that point in new directions. The works of art identify the terms by which our social conditions are constructed nowadays and check whether they are conducive to the social organism. The participatory art projects encourage the perception and careful observation of own needs and seize the active flows of a developing new era.

We will continue this project in the future until we succeed in culturally, politically and organizationally consolidating the exited in Europe.
